Working at height: Full-body harness (EN 361), double-leg lanyard with shock absorber, and Type II safety helmet with chin strap. Concrete work: Chemical-resistant gloves (wet concrete is alkaline), knee pads, and respiratory protection against silica dust. Electrical work: Class E safety helmet, insulated gloves rated for the voltage level, and arc-flash rated clothing.
PPE Management on Multi-Contractor Sites
UAE mega projects typically involve dozens of subcontractors working simultaneously. The main contractor’s HSE department should establish a site-wide PPE standard, conduct regular PPE audits, provide induction training that covers PPE requirements, and enforce colour-coded hard hat systems to identify different trades and authority levels.
